Early Years

At Branton and Breamish the Early Years class, Owl Class, typically consists of Nursery and Reception children.  We do have the flexibility in our organisation to also work with Year 1 and 2 as needed in Owl Class, to provide continuous provision opportunities and targeted learning.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has seven Areas of Learning.

The Prime Areas are:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development

The Specific Areas are:

  • Mathematics
  • Literacy
  • Knowledge of the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Each child in Owl Class has designated a key worker.

Parents receive a regular Progress Summary for their child which they can also access through Tapestry (see link below) and will be able to attend regular parent meetings to talk to staff about their child's progress.

At Branton and Breamish we also operate an open door policy so parents can talk to their child's key worker, or any teacher, whenever they need.

Our Early Years Curriculum is set out on our curriculum section, so please follow this link to find out more.
