Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year!
It is so lovely to see all our children back at school after the Christmas break, and we have lots of exciting things planned for this term.
Our whole school term topic is 'Where are we?' and we will be sending home our topic overview for each Key Stage this week.
Miss Hayley Tait, a PGCE student from Northumbria University starts her placement this week in class 2 and will have the opportunity to work mainly with children in Key Stage 1 but also with our older children in Key Stage 2 during her time with us. Miss Tait will be with us up to 23rd February.
It is a very short spring term this year, with only 5 weeks up to our half term break, with school closing at the usual time on Friday 9th February, reopening on Tuesday 20th February as Monday 19th is a partnership Training Day. We will then work through to Thursday 29th March when school will close at 2pm for the Easter Holiday which is half term made up of two 4 day weeks and 4 full weeks. So as you can imagine we have lots to do and not a lot of time to get everything done!
Our main focus as a school this half term will to be to complete our Heritage School Project and we invite you to a sharing assembly on Wednesday 7th February at 10 am, to share our work with you. Miss Plunkett has very much lead our work on this project which is in collaboration with Historic England, and we hope to be recognised as a Heritage School after completion.
We have also started our Arts Mark journey, registering as an Arts Mark school and working towards Arts Mark Accreditation, so watch this space for future activities!
We are hoping to also celebrate our fantastic Ofsted report this term, and once all our children are back at school we plan to take photos with the hope of having some information in the local press. Thank you all for your support, we were straight into Christmas and haven't really drawn breath long enough to celebrate!
We welcome some new starter into our nursery this term, which is so lovely. We look forward to them and their families settling in and becoming part of our Branton Community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Christmas events. Our Whole school Production of 'Christmas with the Aliens' at the Breamish Hall and then our Christmas Service at Eglingham Church with Reverend Marion. A lovely way to celebrate Christmas! Reverend Marion's sister was so kind to make all our children and staff knitted angels, so a huge Branton and Breamish 'Thank You' to her. I will be organising a date for our Easter Service with Reverend Marion shortly and will let you all know the date once agreed.
Our hard working PTA provided children and staff with a lovely Christmas Lunch in the last week of term, so thank you to them all for their hard work, it was yummy! They have a fundraising event in a few weeks time, a coffee morning in Wooler at the Glendale Hall on Saturday 10th February, so look out for information about that.
Please remember to keep up to date with all our news on our school website
and my blog at
I will be sending home an updated copy of our charging policy, reminding you all that all payments for lunches, nursery sessions and PE need to be paid in advance and be in school at the beginning of the week, half term or term. A huge 'Thank you!' to those parents who have already sent in payments.
Thank you all for your continued support,
