Just wanted to confirm arrangements for next week with you all, and give some advance notice of events next term, can't believe we are here already, where has this term gone!
On Monday 26th March we will be going to Brandon Farm to see the lambing. Our youngest children in nursery and reception are being bused and our children in Years 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 will walk to the farm around the ponds. Please ensure all children are dressed warmly with wellies and waterproofs. Could I ask that all children bring their uniform (including shoes for inside school) to change into once we get back to school so we can bag up any muddy or wet clothing to send home?
On Tuesday 27th March we will be joining Reverend Marion at Ingram Church for our Easter Service at 10 am. Our focus this year is 'New Life', so do come along and join us if you can. Afterwards we will head back to school for some Easter fun, an egg hunt (hoping a special bunny may visit while we are at church!!) and egg rolling - if you could possibly send in a decorated hard boiled egg that your child is happy to roll (and probably get broken, so please not too precious). Our PTA are running an Easter raffle which will be drawn and refreshments will be served. Forest school as usual in the afternoon.
On Wednesday 28th March it will be our final rugby session in school with James and also the final after school rugby as we missed a couple with the weather, fingers crossed it doesn't snow again this week!
On Thursday 29th March we will close for Easter at 2pm. There is no swimming on this day as we are finishing early.
I have been asked about ordering uniform, so we will send out a form on Monday and if you would like to order anything, please return the form as soon as you can and definitely by Thursday, that way we can get an order off which will hopefully be with us at the beginning of next term.
After Easter our school meals will be cooked on site by Mrs Wyld, who we are so grateful to for being happy to take on this challenge, and we hope this will give us more flexibility and also greater control over the meals we serve. Mrs Wyld will be joined by a job share partner as soon as we can arrange it. So if you see a few changes around the kitchen, and how our kitchen is used, this is why! Our menu will be tailored to our needs, be healthy and balanced and with a little more variety and choice.
Our older children are really excited as they will be off on their Kielder adventure 18th - 20th April, and we have an art day organised for our younger children on Thursday 19th April.
Looking forward to the new term, we will begin tennis with Grant on Wednesday 18th April (older nursery, reception and years 1 and 2 only on 18th), and we will be offering an after school tennis club with Grant beginning 25th April, I will send out a letter for this by the end of this week.
Swimming will continue on a Thursday afternoon throughout the summer term from Thursday 26th April; there will be no swimming the first week back as our older children will be at Kielder and we have our art day organised.
We are also really excited as we have arranged 'Bikeability' Training for all our children from Reception to Year 5, and more information will be sent out this week, as the training is slightly different for each year group. This training will take place on Monday 30th April and Tuesday 1st May depending on which year group your child is in. This ranges from balance bike training for our youngest children to Level 2 as set out below, so look out for letters arriving home!
- Bikeability plus balance for Reception and Year 1,
- Learn to Ride for Years 2 & 3,
- Level 1 for Year 4
- Level 2 for Year 5
So, I look forward to seeing you this week at our Easter Service and afterwards at school for a bit of Easter fun! If you can't there is a raffle, so children are welcome to bring money if they'd like to buy a ticket or two!
If I don't see you, have a fabulous Easter, and our whole team look forward to seeing you all back for our busy summer term! Thank you all for your continued support!
